Neon Color Warnings

Although we offer Neon Colors for our yard signs, we must warn you of a few things about these colors.  First, these colors begin to fade after 30 days if they are exposed to prolonged sunlight.  We also do not recommend that you choose a Neon color without using a dark background or a dark outline around it.  The final warning when choosing neon colors is do not choose to use yellow as your background color, the neon colors loose there effect on that.  Neon colors go great with black on white.  For additional yard sign information, please visit SignOutfitters.com.

Yard Signs

When sending artwork for Yard Signs, please try sending a file that is vector art. Vector file are usually created in Adobe Illustator or Corel Draw. If not, files other than vector, such as .jpg, .png, .tiff, .bmp, .doc, etc, will be used only for the purpose of seeing how you want  your layout to be.

We can not print from these files because they are pixilated, that is why we prefer vector art, in vector art pixilation or resolutions are not factors at all!

Please visit our blogs on artwork and other specification!

The History of Vector Art

DEFINITION:

Vector Graphics (also called,BUT HARDLY EVER!,geometric modeling or object-oriented graphics) is the use of geometrical primitives such as POINTS,LINES, CURVES, and POLYGONS, which are all based upon mathematical equations to represent IMAGES in COMPUTERS. It is used by contrast to the term RASTER IMAGES, which is the representation of images as a collection of PIXELS(dots).

HISTORY:

The early days of computing in the 1950s and into the 1980s, a different type of display, the vector graphics system, was used. In these systems the electron beam of the CRT display monitor was steered directly to trace out the shapes required, line segment by line segment, with the rest of the screen remaining black. This process was repeated many times a second to achieve a flicker-free or near flicker-free picture. These systems allowed very high-resolution line art and moving images to be displayed without the (for that time) unthinkably huge amounts of memory that an equivalent-resolution raster system would have needed. These vector-based monitors were also known as X-Y displays!

The first uses vector graphic displays was the US SAGE air defense system. Vector graphics systems were only retired from U.S. en route air traffic control in 1999, and are likely still in use in military and specialized systems.Vector graphics systems include Digital's GT40 [1]. There was a home gaming system that used vector graphics called VECTREX  various arcade games like Asteroids and Space Wars, still classics I might add!

Vector graphics is mainly used today in the context of two-dimensional computer graphics. It is one of several modes an artist can use to create an image on a raster display. Other modes include text, multimedia and 3d rendering. Virtually all modern 3D rendering is done using extensions of 2D vector graphics techniques.

We uses vector graphics here at signoutfitters.com in a variety of ways, for yard signs, bumpers stickers, magnetic car signs, etc. We prefer that our clients send us vector art but we will accept raster/bitmaps images and convert them to vector art for a small fee. We prefer vector art because it is completely scalable and the files are small. So for now I will play Asteroids on my super advanced X BOX 360 and think about the god ole' days when I was pumping many a quarters into the arcade machine.

Print Screen Function

Did you know that when you hold down the control key and then hit the print screen key that it will capture and image of what is on your computer screen at that particular moment?  Also, if you hold down the control plus the alt key and hit the print screen key it will capture an image of just the window you happen to be working with.  Although these commands may never get used very often, they sometimes can help in a bind.  They really can help for those who may not be as computer literate as others.  Once you capture your screen, all you have to do is paste it into you graphics program.  You can put together window by window instructions, very easily.  Simple tools that help us get through the day.

Pantone Matching System

The range of colors in the corporate logo in a client's signage, for example, should match the colors in the logo printed on its stationary, web site, and all other places the brand is represented. This, experts say, is critical to the public image of a company!

PANTONE has gained a reputation as a world-renowned authority on color, color systems and technology used for the selection and accurate communication of color across various industries. Since the 1960s, the Pantone name is recognized as the standard language for color communication.

The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is Pantone's flagship product that targets the graphic design industry, including printing, publishing and packaging. Pantone describes PMS as the definitive international reference for selecting, specifying, matching and controlling ink color.

So in the future if you need an exact color for your yard signs or static clings, we here at http://www.signoutfitters.com/ are able to provide you with this service of matching PMS Colors.

Fonts

What is a font?

A font is a combination of letters, numbers, punctuation marks and special characters. There are many factors that determine how a font looks like.  The Font Family is they are defined.  Other factors deal with typeface, size, weight, posture, and spacing.  Changes to these items may determine if a letter is bold or italicized.  They determine the height and width of the character.  Fonts are vital in creating Yard Signs.  Our most popular fonts that we use is Arial Black and Times New Roman.  Check out SignOutfitters for Yard Signs.

Yard Sign Proof Colors

All Yard Sign orders receive an art proof.  The purpose for these proofs is more for a layout purpose.  One of the most common questions we get is about colors.  "The color I picked looks too dull."  When sending art proofs the colors matches the corresponding PMS color.  This assures that you get the right color when your yard signs are sent to print, even if the color may not look right when you look at it on your computer screen.

You can find more about Yard Signs and the colors we offer at SignOutfitters.com.
